How Seequent Boosted Engagement at Lyceum Conference Using Interactive Virtual Conference Booths
Seequent’s Lyceum Conference was a 5-day virtual conference created to bring together multi-disciplinary geo-professionals across the civil infrastructure, mining and exploration, environmental and energy sectors to collaborate, share and learn new ideas about industry challenges and solutions. The event was delivered on Social27 Virtual Event Platform. The event included 70 speaker sessions, 2,600 attendees, and 113 noteworthy speakers.

Virtual Events and the Environment
Virtual events don’t have to replicate live events – they’re a whole separate format with their own benefits! But even though they’re in a different format than in-person events, doesn’t mean that the sense of community and engagement has to diminish just because you’re online. They’re a great way to bring your attendees’ together while also helping the environment.
In fact, Social27 believes virtual events have a lot of environmental benefits. And since Seequent is always thinking about heading towards a more resilient, connected, and sustainable tomorrow – it’s no surprise that Seequent and virtual events go hand in hand.
And at Seequent’s Lyceum Conference, the discussions of the environment continued into all aspects of the virtual event platform. Lyceum Conference celebrates the geoscience community to bring together data, disciplines, and ideas to build the best understanding of the geoscience industry. But behind it all, Seequent had their own event goals to achieve to better their attendees experience while also promoting their own products and services.
Virtual Conference Goals
Seequent’s main goals for Lyceum Conference were to:
- Increase overall event reach.
- Expose Seequent products and branding to existing and new audiences in the geoscience community.
- Consolidate their position as a thought-leader in the geoscience space.
- Strengthen current customer relations by creating engagement opportunities between customers on peer-to-peer, regional, and shared business levels.
- Grow brand awareness into new segments of existing customers by a land and expand approach
And with Social27 Virtual Event Platform, Seequent was able to achieve these goals and beyond through platform features like interactive virtual Exhibitor Booth Microsites (or ‘Solution Zones’), lively session chats, and more.
Lyceum Conference
Over the 5-day event period, Lyceum Conference consisted of 9 separate events. The global event took place in 4 different time zones, as well as 4 regional events that took place in 4 different languages – from APAC, North America, EMEA, to LATAM.
The global Lyceum event allowed Seequent to consolidate their profile as a thought leader in the geoscience space and allowed them to share more about the work they’ve been doing across the globe. It also provided them with a space to discuss where the company is heading, as well as higher level topics that stretch across the different disciplines in the geoscience industry.
At the regional events, attendees could browse technical and local case studies in Solution Zone virtual booths, to learn more about the work Seequent is doing on a local basis, along with how they’re using their products and services to aid them with it.
Digging Deeper
At both the regional and global events, attendees could engage in sessions and Roundtable meetings. The event sessions, along with Roundtables, were in the format of panel discussions, where attendees could learn about advancing infrastructure, digital transformation, and much more. These panels were not only helpful for Seequent to share data and visualizations of their products, but it also opened up conversations that allowed attendees to network and connect with each other.
The various regional events also allowed for various types of content engagement – from live Q&A at the APAC event, to interstitial slides at EMEA Russia before the sessions started, Social27 Virtual Event Platform provided a multitude of ways for Seequent to present data, disciplines, and ideas to their attendees.

“Of all the events we did over the 5 days, we definitely got the best results when a session live Q&A … there was undoubtedly a different vibe and energy from participants and speaker … it was the best reward from [hosting the event] … The feedback that we got from the attendees certainly highlighted that as well.” – Alison Young, Events Manager at Seequent](http://blog.social27.com/virtualeventsblog/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2021/12/How-Seequent-Boosted-Engagement-at-Lyceum-Conference-Using-Interactive-Virtual-Conference-Booths_Blog_Quote_Alison-Young-1024x564.png)

Virtual Conference Networking and Usage
- Connections made: There were 2,950 connections made between attendees, speakers, and booth representatives at the event.
- Microsite visits: During the 5-day event period, there were 2,000 visits to the 6 various interactive virtual microsite booths.
- Playlist views: In the 6 virtual microsite booths, there were 1,971 Playlist views.
- Resources downloaded: Out of the 52 possible downloadable resources in the 6 virtual microsite booths, there were 500 resources downloaded.
- Chats sent: There were 4,000 chats sent between attendees during live and on demand sessions.
Lyceum Conference focused on providing attendees with multiple opportunities to connect, along with providing top-notch educational content. Thus, it’s no surprise that the most used features on the platform were connections made, in-session chats, and visits to the interactive, repurposed virtual Exhibitor Booth Microsites (‘Solution Zones’).
Not only that, but Seequent was able to promote strong brand awareness to existing and new customers through the repurposed booths, or “Solution Zones.”
Repurposed Virtual Conference Booths
Like in-person events, virtual events often have booths in which sponsors and exhibitors can promote their products or services. But when an event doesn’t have sponsors, that area of the virtual event platform often goes unused.
Instead of getting rid of booths altogether, Seequent repurposed their sponsor and exhibitor booths at Lyceum Conference to be “Solution Zones.” Solution Zones were a way for Seequent to drive attendees to look at their products or features while helping them stay on the virtual event platform. This was a great way for Seequent to expose their products to existing or new customers. This helped generate overall brand awareness, and awareness for Seequent Evo – a new and innovative geoscience software.

Attendees could still access and download resources, view video content in Playlists, and access other higher-level topics that stretch across different disciplines. At the various Lyceum Conference regional events, Solution Zones helped attendees view how Seequent was using these products in their own region. And with 52 possible resources to download in the Solution Zones, attendees had a plethora of information to download to research or share later with stakeholders at their organizations.
Attendees could then continue the conversation in the booth chats with a booth representative. They could also branch out to an event Roundtable to discuss further with subject matter experts or peers. Having these options strengthened current customer relations and furthering connections on a peer-to-peer level, regional level, and shared business level.
Outcomes from the Virtual Conference
Having strong panel discussions full of industry experts, from connecting with old (and new!) colleagues through the Attendee Directory or in-session chats – Lyceum Conference provided opportunities to dig deeper into pertinent industry data, information on new products, and networking with peers and experts.
Attendees are also able to access the platform to schedule and participate in Roundtable meetings with thought leaders or colleagues at any time of their choosing.
And through ‘observer mode’ on Social27’s native solution Social27 MeetUp, there is no limit to the number of attendees that can obverse these discussions on the platform – a perfect format for their attendees, scientists!
This helped to not only cater to and pique the interest of their attendees, but it allowed a larger audience to view the topics, discussions, and products brought up throughout the event. This helped Seequent achieve their main event goals of increasing their event reach, exposing products to existing and new customers, and positioning themselves as thought leader experts in geoscience – all with the help of Social27 Virtual Event Platform.
